A scent journey to Fiji's Paradise and Australia's Bondi Beach

A scent journey to Fiji's Paradise and Australia's Bondi Beach

15th Jun 2024

At Aemster, our scent journey began with a trip around the world in search of new inspiration and resulted in inspiration for our scents. We traveled to all the continents this world has to offer, looking for experiences and botanicals that could capture the essence of these places for us. And so the first ideas for the Aemster scent collection were born. Bondi Bergamot and Fiji Figs are a result of that. The information and tips in this blog come directly from our experiences.

Imagine travelling to Fiji, where the beautiful beaches and lush rainforests await you. You can smell the sun-ripened figs in the air, mingling with the scents of the green lush vegetation, creating a unique atmosphere. Now picture yourself slightly sun-tanned and full of energy strolling down the streets of vibrant Bondi Beach, where you'll find the iconic beach with their famous 'coast guards' and surf culture. The fresh sea breeze carries the sparkling notes of bergamot, blending with the salty scent of the sea.

For travellers venturing to Australia, consider extending the journey to Fiji or vice versa, this offers a fantastic trip. After reading this blog, you’ll know why.

Discover Fiji: The tropical paradise

Fiji, a collection of over 300 islands in the South Pacific, is renowned for its natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. From white sand beaches and coral reefs to green forests and many local communities, Fiji offers a trip into paradise. The islands of Fiji are a treasure of relaxation. National Geographic describes Fiji’s vegetation as a mix of tropical rainforests, mangroves, and coastal flora, providing a habitat for a diverse range of wildlife.

Wildlife on Land and in the Sea

In the rainforests of Fiji, you can encounter unique creatures such as the Fiji banded iguana, known for its striking coloration and arboreal lifestyle. The islands are home to several bird species, including the orange dove and the Fiji parrotfinch. Beneath the crystal-clear waters, Fiji's coral reefs teem with marine life. Diverse fish species, such as the clownfish and majestic manta rays, can be found near to the reefs. Keep an eye out for the gentle giants of the ocean, like the whale shark and humpback whale, which migrate through Fijian waters seasonally.

If you love these activities, Fiji is your next destination:

  • Snorkeling and Diving: Explore the coral reefs with marine life.
  • Hiking: Go to the tropical rainforests and discover hidden waterfalls.
  • Cultural Tours: Visit traditional Fijian villages and experience local communities.
  • Luxury beaches and hotels

For the foodies out there, you’ll find many culinary delights in Fiji

Fijian cuisine is a fusion of indigenous flavors and influences from Indian, Chinese, and European cuisines. Instead of booking an all-inclusive resort, we would advise to venture out and discover the local outdoor restaurants that offer authentic Fijian cuisine and a unique dining experience. Depending on your needs, the local restaurants in Fiji provide great unique dining, with flavours unknown to the European, but also scenic views and unique settings, making it a memorable culinary journey.

Aemster’s scent Bondi Bergamot

The founders of Aemster fell in love with the energy of Bondi Beach, which inspired them to create Bondi Bergamot, a fresh, invigorating scent. While bergamot itself is not native to Australia, its inclusion in many Australian fragrances speaks to the country's appreciation for natural, refreshing scents. Australian perfumery often draws from the nation's rich botanical heritage, incorporating native plants and unique combinations that reflect the local environment. Bergamot, with its bright and uplifting aroma, fits seamlessly into this tradition, adding a touch of citrusy freshness that complements Australia's natural palette.

The founders of Aemster returned to Bondi Beach a few years later to explore the area more, and discovered new Australian botanicals. Ultimately this resulted in the scent Bondi Bergamot. We hope you will love it as much as we do.

This scent captures the essence of Australia's famous Bondi Beach, with its stunning bays and vibrant coastal atmosphere. The scent opens with sparkling bergamot and juicy pear, leading into a rich floral heart where jasmine and white flowers blend with heliotrope and aromatic angelica, touched with a hint of spicy cardamom. The base is a luxurious blend of warm amber, powdery musk, creamy sandalwood, sweet vanilla, and almond.

Aromatic Profile:

  • Top Notes: Bergamot, Pear
  • Middle Notes: Jasmine, White Flowers, Heliotrope, Angelica, Cardamom
  • Base Notes: Amber, Almond, Sandalwood, Musk, Vanilla
