Founded in 2010, Visus Oogkliniek provides laser eye surgery and lens replacement treatments in six cities across the Netherlands. The mission is simple yet profound: to help people see clearly, and to do so in a way that improves quality of life.

Why scent? Why now?
In 2025, Visus introduced Aemster at the newly opened clinic in Rotterdam. The goal? To support a deeper sense of calm and comfort for patients and staff alike.
Scent is now part of the daily rhythm at Visus. The Aemster Bold diffuser has become part of the clinic’s daily rhythm. Every morning at 7:00 AM, the Aemster scent experience starts automatically, while the clinic manager cues up music and gets ready to welcome clients in the atmosphere of Visus.
Three carefully selected scents bring a distinct energy to each area:
- Santal Dream: A warm, grounding sandalwood-based fragrance chosen for its calming qualities. Perfect for waiting areas, it helps soothe clients as they prepare for treatment.
- Incens Moon: With gentle notes of incense and spice, this comforting scent brings softness to consultation rooms and post-surgery recovery areas.
- Pepper Palm: A fresh yet sophisticated scent energises the entrances without overpowering.
“We get compliments all the time,” Sharone shares. “Even our staff love it. One of our colleagues ended up buying a smaller Aemster diffuser for his home!”
The unseen layer of care
True impact comes from how naturally the scent blends into the space. Clients may not always name the scent directly, but they feel the effect. It calms. It grounds. It softens the space.
According to Sharone, scent is not just a finishing touch. “It’s part of our hospitality, our atmosphere, and our brand. In healthcare especially, I believe creating a scent experience to the space is essential to make people feel at ease.”
And the benefit is twofold. A more serene environment helps clients feel more at ease, but it also creates a more pleasant space for staff.
